RESOLUTION
OF THE
COUNCIL
No. 2025-139
WHEREAS: The City of Newport received funds from insurance subsequent to a totaled police vehicle used for narcotics investigations; and
WHEREAS: The Police Department has reached an agreement to trade in four vehicles owned by the City of Newport as a result of legal forfeiture subsequent to the successful prosecution of violators of narcotics distribution; and
WHEREAS: The Flood Ford of East Greenwich is a qualified vendor able to provide the required Ford Police Explorer vehicle for use by the City of Newport Police Department for Criminal Investigative use. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED: That the City of Newport purchase a Ford Police Explorer vehicle from Flood Ford of East Greenwich, for a total not to exceed cost of $34,672.00 funded from $14,221.00 of insurance monies in combination with the trade of four vehicles providing $20,850.00 in credit, and the Council Chair is authorized to sign said contract on behalf of the City, subject to favorable review by the City Solicitor.
