ORDINANCE OF THE
TOWN OF MIDDLETOWN, RHODE ISLAND
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TOWN CODE OF THE
TOWN OF MIDDLETOWN
TITLE III: ADMINISTRATION
Chapter 36, Fee Schedule
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
FIRST: That Town Code Title III, Administration, Chapter 36, Entitled "Fee Schedule", Sections (A) Clerk's Department, (18) Mobile Food, (22) Short Term Rentals, (25) Tobacco License Fee, (B) Building Official, adding (8) Short Term Rentals, and (F) Police Department, (4) Public Safety Private Detail Billing Rates: Police Department is amended as follows (language to be deleted is struck; language to be added is underlined):
(A) Clerk's Department.
(18) Mobile Food Service Establishment: $100 per year for each vehicle, plus $25 Application fee.
(a) Trucks – Limit 12 - $75.00 per year
(b) Carts – Limit 7 - $75.00 per year
(c) Special Events - $35.00 per event
(22) Short Term Rentals: $10 per bedroom, per year.
(25) Tobacco License Fee: $100 per year.
(B) Building/Zoning.
(8) Short Term Rentals: The fee for registering under this chapter shall be $55.00 for each bedroom in the unit with a minimum fee of $55.00; the fee for premises on which the owner maintains his or her principal residence shall be $55.00 per dwelling unit, regardless of the number of bedrooms.
(F) Police Department.
(4) Public Safety Private Detail Billing Rates: Police Department.
(a) The regular hourly rate for Police Officer, Community Service Officer (CSO) or Non-Permanent Officer (NPO) will be the Top Step Patrol Rate x one and one-half
per hour rounded to the nearest dollar, with a four hour minimum. Any detail that runs longer than fifteen minutes over the four hour minimum shall be paid to the next hour. Officers working for more than eight consecutive hours at a private detail shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half times the regular hourly rate; officers working private details on Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Presidents’ Day, Police Officers Memorial Day (May 15), Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Victory Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and any other holiday declared by the Town, shall be compensated at double the regular hourly rate.
SECOND: Chapter 36 All other Sections remain unchanged.
THIRD: This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption and its provisions shall supersede any inconsistent or contrary provision in any other ordinance.
