Resolution on Invasive Plants
WHEREAS, the dense population of housing in parts of Newport can lead to overgrowth of trees, grasses and plants; and
WHEREAS, some of these plants can grow out of one property and into another; and
WHEREAS, this invasive growth like bamboo, and knotweed, can become detrimental and harmful to one's property; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Newport City Council requests that the Department of Resiliency and Sustainability, the City Tree Warden and members of the Planning Department draft an ordinance to regulate intrusive plant growth in residential zones.
