SPECIAL MEETING

JULY 15, 2025

Pursuant to Section 2-17 of the City Charter of the City of Newport, a Special Meeting of the Council was held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., City Hall, Council Chambers, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840

The CITY CLERK called the roll and the following members were present:

Resolutions

1. Advocating for the Continued Operation of the Noreen Stonor Drexel Birthing Center at Newport Hospital- X. Khamsyvoravong, S. Smyth, J. Napolitano, E. Pinnock, D. Carlin, L. Ceglie

CHAIR HOLDER introduced the resolution and moved for its passage. Seconded by COUNCILOR NAPOLITANO. Discussion occurred among the Council. The following members from the public addressed the Council:

Discussion continued among the Council. The motion to adopt the resolution was VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.

COUNCILOR CARLIN moved to have copies of the meeting recording sent to Dr. Thomas, Sarah Frost and John Fernandez, all with Brown Health. Seconded by COUNCILOR PINNOCK and VOTED UNANIMOUSLY.
