RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, in 2017, the Brenton Hotel, LLC, (formerly LHW, LLC) entered into an agreement with the City of Newport to allocate, but not reserve, thirty (30) parking spaces at the Gateway Parking Lot for use of the Brenton Hotel, located at America’s Cup Avenue and Long Wharf; and
WHEREAS, the Brenton Hotel, LLC and the City agree that the Zoning Ordinance in the City of Newport requires sixty (60) parking spaces on the same lot with the hotel and/or on a lot contiguous to the hotel parcel, with the planned development providing for thirty-eight (38) parking spaces on-site; accordingly, twenty-two (22) additional spaces are needed to comply with the Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, an additional eight (8) spaces for accessory use are also being included, resulting in the total of thirty (30) spaces as specified in the past and currently proposed in this agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City is seeking City Council approval to enter into a new Parking Agreement with the Brenton Hotel, LLC for another term of five (5) years, in the amount of $30,000 annually; NOW THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED: that the Council Chair is hereby authorized to sign the Parking Agreement between the City of Newport and the Brenton Hotel, LLC for the use of 30 parking spaces in the Gateway Parking Lot, for a term of five (5) years in a form deemed acceptable by the City Solicitor.
