2024-122 Additional Funding for Rogers High School Construction

RESOLUTION OF THE NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL REGARDING FUNDING FOR THE ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

WHEREAS, on October 11, 2024 the Newport School Building Committee notified City Council that they are seeking $2,918,809 in additional funds to contract the last phase of site work for the Rogers High School construction project; and

WHEREAS, the School Building Committee has determined the $2,918,809 of additional funding will enable a final certificate of occupancy and the completion of the project; and

WHEREAS, the School Building Committee will need to contract the last phase of site work at the November 18, 2024 meeting to avoid sub-contractor prices expiring on December 1, 2024. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT

RESOLVED, that the City Council of Newport commits to funding $2,918,809 to the high school construction project to address current and projected shortfalls as reported in the Newport School Building Committee’s correspondence on October 11, 2024. AND BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, that the funding to meet the projected needs for the Final Certificate of Occupancy be provided contingent on the spend down of the Owner’s and Construction Contingency to the minimum contractually permitted.
