2025-40 Requesting the upper portion of Bridge Street be designated as a one way street north, traveling toward the intersection of Thames Street

RESOLUTION

OF THE
COUNCIL

No.2025-40

WHEREAS, Traffic in The City of Newport has been for many years and continues to be, a challenge for city residents; AND

WHEREAS, This is especially true for streets which are narrow and not easily traversed; AND

WHEREAS, Said streets can also be dangerous for both residents of these streets and non-resident users of these streets; AND

WHEREAS, Residents of upper Bridge Street in the city have been expressing these and other concerns about their street for many years now and have been consistently requesting that the city direct that the upper portion of Bridge Street be designated as a one way street west, traveling toward the intersection of America’s Cup; NOW THEREFORE, be it

RESOLVED: That The Newport City Council agrees with this request and hereby directs the city manager to take such steps that are necessary to effectuate said change.
