District Technology Specialist

DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) or demonstrate literacy skills necessary to work with teachers and students.

2.  Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

3.  Demonstrate good skills in computer literacy.

4.  Work with minimum supervision.

5.  Ability to adapt to unexpected interruptions of the daily work pattern.

6.  Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to team efforts and organizational efforts.

7.  Positive attitude.

8.  Successful interview.

9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Screening Committee may find appropriate.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

1.  Assist personnel in using the district database system for student information (and other district database systems) and provide training to clerical, administrative and teaching staff in its use.

2.  Assist the district in utilizing and managing other technology as needed.

3.  Provide staff assistance, as well as providing support for staff development for instructional use of technology in the district.

4.  Provide Help Desk support as needed.

5.  Assist with the maintenance of the MPS web site focusing on the area of web accessibility and programming with XHTML and CSS.

6.  Support audio visual and technology work orders.

7.  Provide assistance for the Technology Director and for the Technology Department.

REPORTS TO:   Director of Technology

JOB GOAL:  To maintain all computers, peripherals and networks in such a condition of operating excellence that maximum educational use may be made of them at all times.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Twelve month year.  Salary and work year to be established by the School Committee.

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Technology.
