RESOLUTION

COUNCIL

No. 2026-13

WHEREAS, The City of Newport, Police Department requested proposals for one Harley-Davidson FLHTP Electra Glide Solo Law Enforcement Motorcycle, RFP # 2026-POL-002, proposals were received on January 12, 2025; AND

WHEREAS, One current motorcycle used for detail escorts is not in conformance with standards for officers to attend training and receive certification to operate the vehicle safely and effectively due to the lack of modernized safety equipment for operators; AND

WHEREAS, The motorcycle is necessary for Police operations on traffic enforcement, police escorts, traffic control, and traversing the City during months with a high rate of vehicular and pedestrian traffic; AND

WHEREAS, Award has been recommended to the sole qualified bidder at their bid price of $19,775.00; NOW THEREFORE BE IT

RESOLVED: That the bid of Russ’ Ocean State, Inc. dba Russ’ Ocean State Harley-Davidson of 35 Albany Rd., Warwick, RI, is hereby accepted and the City Administration is authorized to issue the associated Purchase Order.
