COMPUTER SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO:                        Director of Computer Education

In support of the District Strategic Plan

JOB GOAL:                             To conduct the day to day data processing operations and assist in the planning and organizing of the overall activities of electronic data processing, including systems analysis, network administrations and computer operation activities as related to the district’s business operations, instructional programs, research activities, and pupil record keeping.

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Supports the Middletown School Department’s strategic plan.

2.      Assists in implementing computer education programs  throughout the district.

3.      Provides care, maintenance and operation of the Data Processing Center and Central Office system as well as overall  care and maintenance of computers and equipment throughout the district.

4.      Assists the Director of Computer Education and other instructional leaders to determine appropriate use of  technology for instruction in all subject areas.

5.      Assists in the coordination of computer hardware and  software distribution throughout the district.

6.      Maintains up-to-date knowledge of systems software,  application software, hardware and network systems  throughout the district.

7.      Researches and recommends new software, hardware and  modifications that will enhance operating and development  activities.

8.       Collaborates with staff throughout the district expressing a need, interest, or desire to develop technology within the classroom and/or district.

9.      Assists in conducting in-service programs to keep personnel informed as to applications and developments in computer education.

10.  All other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent of  Schools.

TERM OF                                Full time (12 months) 8 hours/day - 40 hours/week  EMPLOYMENT:                Vacation: 15 days.

EVALUATION:                     Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Director of Computer Education.
