RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL

WHEREAS:
The Town of Middletown recognizes that the life and health of all people living and travelling within the Town of Middletown are our utmost priority, and no one should die or be seriously injured while travelling on our streets; and

WHEREAS:
The Town of Middletown adopted the Vision Zero: Safe Streets for All goal of zero traffic deaths and serious injuries stating that no loss of life or serious injury is acceptable on our streets; and of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2034 and endorses Vision Zero as a comprehensive and holistic approach to achieving this goal; and

The Town of Middletown committed to establishing a continuous and evolving framework in service of this goal, including the 2025 Safety Action Plan. This framework will involve the ongoing assessment and revision of strategies, actions, and metrics to ensure progress toward the goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2034; and

WHEREAS:
The Town of Middletown prepared a plan titled Middletown Safe Streets and Roads for All Safety Action Plan (2025) in accordance with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant funding program guidance; and

WHEREAS:
The Middletown Safe Streets and Roads for All Safety Action Plan (2025) identifies roadway safety needs and actions to reduce and eliminate traffic crashes that cause death and severe harm to people; and

WHEREAS:
Adoption by the Town Council demonstrates their commitment to taking actions that will advance the adopted goals of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2034. Therefore, now be it

RESOLVED:

That the Town Council adopts the Middletown Safe Streets and Roads for All Safety Action Plan (2025).
