RESOLUTION
OF THE
COUNCIL
No.2026-48
WHEREAS, The Newport International Boat Show (the “Boat Show”) has operated at the Newport Yachting Center and adjacent abutting properties for the past fifty-three (53) years and utilized City owned properties at North Commercial and Scott’s Wharves (“Licensed Premises”) under a License Agreement which expired at the conclusion of the Boat Show in September of 2025: and
WHEREAS, Yachting Promotions, Inc. (“YPI”) is the current owner/operator of the Boat Show and desires to continue its use of the Licensed Premises; and
WHEREAS, the Boat Show is one of the largest single events in the City and provides significant and positive economic benefit to the City and its businesses; and
WHEREAS, the attached License Agreement provides for a fifteen (15) year term, annual consideration in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred ($2,500.00) Dollars payable to the City and one hundred (100) General Admission tickets to be distributed by the City to City residents. NOW THEREFORE BE IT:
RESOLVED: that the License Agreement between the City of Newport and Yachting Promotions, Inc. is hereby approved and the Council Chair is authorized to executed said Agreement on behalf of the City, subject to favorable review by the City Solicitor.
