RESOLUTION
OF THE
COUNCIL
No. 2025-133
WHEREAS: The Newport Police Department applied for and received a Public Safety Grant Administration-JAG Variable Pass Through Grant in the amount of $33,273 for the purchase of communications and related equipment to be utilized for public safety needs for community gatherings, special events and possible safety scenarios; and
WHEREAS: Due to the high volume of community events especially during the summer months and the extra deployment of officers, which may include the Special Response Team (SRT), the Police Department is in need of single-channel headset system utilizing the newly designed TCI multi-mode earcup. This system is RF and EMI shielded to prevent bleed-through from various radio frequency sources, including those that are self-generated; and
WHEREAS: ND30 engineered for both training and field operations, the ND30 gives operators complete control through four specialized deployment modes; and
WHEREAS: The Police Department has received the funds to be used for said equipment and the deadline for utilization of the funds is September 30, 2025. NOW THEREFORE BE IT
RESOLVED: Usage of the awarded JAG Grant to purchase the specified equipment as per the Grant Agreement. is hereby approved.
