AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 8 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, REVISION OF 1994, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED, "HEALTH AND SAFETY".
BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Newport,
SECTION 1. Chapter 8.28 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Newport, Rhode Island, Revision of 1994, as amended, entitled, "SMOKING PROHIBITED", is hereby amended:
8.28.010. Smoking prohibited in and around municipal and school buildings.
DELETE PARAGRAPH A IN ITS ENTIRETY
A. The smoking of any tobacco product is prohibited in any building, office space, or portions of buildings owned, rented, leased, or used by the city or school department, or any agencies of the city.
ADD IN LIEU THEREOF THE FOLLOWING
A. The smoking of cigarettes, cigars, weed or plant products or any tobacco product, pipes and vaping apparatus is prohibited in any building, office space, or portions of buildings owned, rented, leased, or used by the city or school department, or any agencies of the city.
B. Smoking is prohibited within twenty-five (25) feet of the public entrances/exits of the city/school department buildings cited in subsection (A).
