2024-134 Award of Contract - Penetration Testing

CITY OF NEWPORT

RESOLUTION

OF THE
COUNCIL

No. 2024-134

Whereas: the City of Newport was the victim of a data breach in 2022; and

Whereas: the City is required to submit cybersecurity audit information annually to the Office of Civil Rights; and

Whereas: the City has agreed to comply with the Office of Civil Rights designation of Newport as a “covered entity” under HIPPA; and

Whereas: the Office of Civil Rights is requiring an annual penetration test to ensure our network remains secure; and

Whereas: penetration test data will be vital to continuing to appropriately secure our network. NOW THEREFORE BE IT

Resolved: the award of contract, not to exceed $12,727.00, is approved to Visual Edge IT for internal and external penetration testing across all publicly facing networks and the Council Chair is authorized to sign said contract on behalf of the City, subject to favorable review by the City Solicitor.
