Middle School Lead Teacher
MIDDLE SCHOOL LEAD TEACHER
To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation at the middle school so that all students, parents and community derive maximum benefit.
Performance Responsibilities:
A. ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP:
1. From time to time, be responsible for the overall building activities in the absence of the Building Principal and Assistant Principals.
2. Work collaboratively with colleagues on the School Improvement Team.
3. Support the Professional Learning Community work in the Middle School.
4. Support and implement the Middletown Public Schools Strategic Plan.
5. Assume certain levels of discipline in accordance with current policies and in coordination with Building Principal and Assistant Principals.
6. Maintain communication with parents as determined by Building Principal.
7. Assist in schedule building, coordinating schedules and room assignments.
8. Be a positive role model to staff and students.
9. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.
B. *TEACHING* AND LEARNING
1. Assume responsibility for a teaching assignment or an equivalent assignment at the discretion of the Superintendent.
2. Support teachers in the Educator evaluation process.
3. Assist the Head Content Teachers with the implementation of curriculum, development of assessments, and the use of data.
4. Review student achievement data in collaboration with the staff to support adjustments in programs and interventions.
5. Support the Building Principal and Head Content Teachers meetings with grade level and content area meetings.
C. HUMAN RELATIONS:
1. Utilize caring, supporting, and motivation techniques in all interpersonal contacts with students, staff, parents, and community.
2. Assist in resolving issues between staff members and community.
** Minimum Qualifications**:
· A valid Rhode Island Teaching Certificate.
· 5 years teaching experience at the Middle School.
· Master’s Degree (Required).
· Demonstrated ability in working with students, teachers, parents, community, and administrators.
· Knowledge of district initiatives, curriculum development and Common Core Standards.
· Demonstrated leadership experience and skills (with evidence).
· Knowledge and practice using Educator Evaluation Model.
Terms of Employment: 191 days
Compensation: As per contract for former Grade Leader position; Memorandum of Agreement
Reports To: Building Principal or Designee
