2024-76 Adoption of City of Newport Strategic Plan 2024

RESOLUTION

COUNCIL
No. 2024-76

WHEREAS the Strategic Plan for the City is an important document which provides the basis for setting priorities and allocating assets as well as guidance for the City Administration in the development of the biennial budget; and

WHEREAS, since April of 2023, the City Council has been working with Raftelis Financial Consultants, Inc., a facilitation consultant, to formulate an update to the existing Strategic Plan for the City of Newport; and

WHEREAS, as part of this process, the consultant obtained input from City Council members, City staff and the City's Boards and Commissions, a Council Workshop was held on October 28, 2023 and a draft plan was submitted to the City for review in November of 2023. Two phases of an online community survey which ran through January and February of 2024 were also utilized to enhance community engagement with a total participation of more than 1,000 participants and a Council Workshop was also held on February 20, 2024 to present a summary of the community input and a strategic framework for Council review. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED: that the Newport City Council hereby approves the adoption of the Strategic Plan 2024.
