AN ORDINANCE IN THE AMENDMENT OF TITLE 13 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, REVISION OF 1994, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED, "PUBLIC SERVICES."

BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Newport:

SECTION 1. Chapter 13.12 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Newport, Revision of 1994, as amended entitled, "Sewer Service Charges," is hereby further amended as follows:

DELETE IN ITS ENTIREY Section 13.12.010 and ADD IN LIEU THEREOF THE FOLLOWING:

13.12.010. Basic Charge

(A) Base charge for metered users. Each metered user is required to pay a minimum monthly service charge. This charge is calculated based on usage of 4,100 gallons at a rate of $19.80 ($25.97 (twenty five dollars and ninety seven cents) per 1,000 gallons).

(B) Additional Flow Charge: Sewage System Usage Fee

Every person, firm, corporation, or governmental unit that utilizes the city's sewage system is required to pay a fee to the city. This fee is calculated based on the metered water consumption over 4,100 gallons, at $19.80 per one thousand (1,000) gallons.

SECTION 2. Chapter 13.12 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Newport, Revision of 1994, as amended, entitled "Sewer Service Charges" is hereby further amended as follows:

13.12.015. CSO fixed charge.

Every person, firm, corporation or governmental unit in the city with a city water account, whether on a septic system or connected to the city sanitary sewer, shall pay a flat fee annually which shall be used only for costs associated with the long-term CSO Control, which is intended to maintain water quality. Said fee shall be based upon meter size, as follows:

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect on July 1, 2025, and all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
