MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL

WORKSHOP RE:  BUDGET OVERVIEW

PUBLIC SAFETY (POLICE, FIRE, PARKING & MARITIME)

The following items of business, filed with the City Clerk under the Rules of the Council, came before the Council at a workshop held on March 30, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, City Council Chambers, 43 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.

David Janiesch, Superintendent of Facilities Management

The workshop commenced at 5:36 p.m.

Ryan G. Duffy, Chief of Police, presented the Police Budget Overview.

Humphrey “Harp” Donnelly IV, Fire Chief, presented the Fire Budget Overview.

Stephen Land, Harbormaster, presented the Maritime Fund Budget Overview.

Patrick Segerson, Transportation Supervisor, presented the Parking Authority Budget Overview.

Discussion occurred among the Council members and each presenter.  Jim Nolan, Finance Director, addressed the Council’s specific budget questions during the presentations.
