AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 13.12 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, REVISION OF 1994, ENTITLED, "SEWER SERVICE CHARGES"

BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Newport:

SECTION 1. THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, REVISION OF 1994, Chapter 13.12 entitled, “Sewer Service Charges” is hereby amended as follows:

DELETE:

13.12.010. Basic charge.

A. Base Charge for Metered Users. Each metered user is required to pay a minimum monthly service charge. This charge is calculated based on usage of four thousand one hundred (4,100) gallons at a rate of nineteen dollars and eighty cents ($19.80) per one thousand (1,000) gallons.

B. Additional Flow Charge: Sewage System Usage Fee. Every person, firm, corporation, or governmental unit that utilizes the city's sewage system is required to pay a fee to the city. This fee is calculated based on the metered water consumption over four thousand one hundred (4,100) gallons, at nineteen dollars and eighty cents ($19.80) per one thousand (1,000) gallons.

ADD:

13.12.010. Basic charge.

Every person, firm, corporation or governmental unit which uses the sewage system of the city shall pay to the city a sum equal to nineteen dollars and eighty cents ($19.80) per one thousand (1,000) gallons of the metered water consumption as a sewage charge.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
