TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION SPECIALIST, K-12
DEPARTMENT: Administration
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES: District Technology Assistants
SALARY: As per schedule for 184 days
On call rate as needed
JOB GOALS
The Technology Integration Specialist, K-12, serves to ensure that technology is effectively and consistently integrated into and across curriculum areas by assisting staff with the development and delivery of technology-based classroom solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Classroom Technology Integration
a. Work collaboratively with teachers at each grade level to define standards for technology integration appropriate to each grade level and subject area
b. Provide guidance to teachers on the integration of technology into the classroom curricula
c. Define and maintain approach to focus each grade level and subject area on appropriate technology standards & guide classroom teachers in their application
d. Support School-To-Career initiatives within the district
2. In-Service Technology Training and Staff Support
a. In collaboration with the IT Department, identify, design and implement in-service technology training program for all staff
b. Provide on-going technology & application usage support
3. Supervise Technology Assistants
a. Define schedule and priorities for Technology Assistants
b. Provide guidance on daily activities and issues
c. Provide feedback to Technology Assistants
4. Coordinate with Computer Science Department (MHS) & Computer Science teachers
a. Support Technology K-12 Curriculum Framework
b. Define approach for integration of computer skills across all other subject area curricula
c. Ensure students have equitable access to technology to meet competencies
5. Support School District Web Site and Internet Access
a. Support individual School Web Site maintenance activities utilizing Web Site development and information update standards authorized by the IT Department; support IT Department efforts to define and revise these standards as appropriate
b. Provide recommendations for district-wide Internet Content Filtering
6. Software Standardization and Management Support
a. In collaboration with the IT Department, establish software application standards to support technology integration across grade levels & curricula
b. Assist the IT Department in monitoring compliance with software licensing agreements
c. Manage district-wide educational software applications and support data transfers among these and administrative applications in collaboration with the IT Department
7. Strategic Planning and Technology Program Management Support
a. Serve as a member of the Town/School Technology Committee, and provide input to the IT Department’s technology strategic planning and budgeting processes.
b. Support IT Department initiatives to develop Policies & Procedures for management and use of technology resources.
c. Pursue grant writing and E-rate funding in collaboration with the IT Department and in accordance with the approved Technology Plan.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide District representation from the technology integration perspective in the Rhode Island Society of Technology Educators (RISTE) and other technology organizations and committees
- Provide testing of technology implementations
- Support other functions of the Superintendent (exclusive of IT Department functions), as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. RI Certification in Computer Science or related area
2. Demonstrated experience using and supporting current technologies
3. Demonstrated commitment to advanced learning in Information Technology
4. Demonstrated experience integrating technology across curriculum areas
5. Knowledge of and experience with technology and curriculum standards
6. Demonstrated ability to work with teachers, staff and other technology professionals
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills
8. Demonstrated ability to define process and standards
9. Commitment to Initial Mastery initiatives
10. Demonstrated successful teaching experience
11. Knowledge of standards based education
