DATA ANALYST

Goal

To manage data and data systems and provide leadership and support in analyzing and reporting data on students, staff, budget, inventory and district efficiencies.

Job Responsibilities

Support the Assistant Superintendent by assistance with projects that will:

• Provide support for student information systems (currently SchoolMAX and TIEnet).

• Establish/Oversee procedures and systems to ensure data quality.

• Maintain and develop reporting solutions as required internally and externally, including those required by the RI Department of Education.

• Configure and maintain data synchronization for ancillary systems.

• Provide general technical assistance to the user community, including help desk support through the creation of documentation.

• Collect data by identifying sources of information; designing survey and collection methods.

• Organize information by studying, analyzing, interpreting, and classifying data.

• Resolve retrieval problems by altering design to meet requirements.

• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

• Prepare references for users by writing operating instructions.

• Maintain historical records by documenting systems changes and revisions.

• Establish and revise databases by conferring with analysts and programmers to code and retrieve data.

• Maintain database by entering data.

• Support website revision and updates.

• Additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Schools

•Stay current in emerging technological developments as relate to education and supporting systems.

•Provide direct support to administrators in the retrieval and analysis of student performance data.

•Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in technical field or Bachelor’s Degree in technical field preferred.

• Experience with data and systems management, data quality standards, Microsoft Excel, (or similar tool).

• Experience in the use of educational technology preferred.

• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred, including but not limited to work with a school district technology department and/or school district database.

• Ability to instruct others in the use of data bases and student information system programs.

• Ability to understand diverse software manuals and their applicability to current systems.

• Excellent project management, organizational skills, technology skills including use of Excel spreadsheets, TIEnet /development & maintenance of student plans & RtI forms, assessment results.

• Outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills.

• The ability to work effectively with others at all levels of an organization including colleagues, parents, students, and administrators.

• Capacity to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

• The ability to identify challenges and be flexible to actively work to find solutions.

• Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.

• Openness and responsiveness to feedback.

• Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication and listening skills.

• Successful interview.
