AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 15 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, REVISION OF 1994, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED, "BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION."

BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Newport:

SECTION 1. Chapter 15.16 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Newport, Revision of 1994, as amended, entitled "Rental Dwellings," is hereby further amended:

15.16.060. Rental registration form.

The rental registration form shall indicate the tax assessor's plat and lot number, address of the rental dwelling unit, the number of rental dwelling units therein, the name and permanent mailing address of the record owner and the rental agent, and the usual period of occupancy by tenants (summer, monthly, weekly or other).

ADD- A copy of the lease must be filed with the City Clerk upon registration.

"15.16.080. Fee.

DELETE

There shall be an annual registration fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) and a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) housing inspection fee for each dwelling unit covered under the provisions of this chapter, payable at the time of registration.

ADD IN LIEU THEREOF

There shall be an annual registration fee of seventy five dollars $75.00 and a one hundred dollar $100.00 housing inspection fee for each dwelling unit covered under the provisions of this chapter, payable at the time of registration.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
