RESOLUTION

OF THE
COUNCIL

No. 2026-11

WHEREAS, the Ad-Hoc Bridge Realignment Property Advisory Commission was formed to provide technical expertise and ensure the redevelopment process in the City's North End be transparent and beneficial for the community; and

WHEREAS, the Commission has prepared a final report with recommendations to the City Council regarding the land transfer and development, as well as advising on property matters related to the assessment, acquisition, remediation and site preparation of the land; and

WHEREAS, the Commission further recommended to the City Council, that the City seek to evaluate these parcels of land located in the North End, identified by Plat & Lot as Parcel 1: 09-436, Parcel 3: 09-437, Parcel 4: 04-069 for purposes of planning, development, and strategic municipal decision-making by obtaining a professional appraisal, necessary to support policymaking and future City actions; and

WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City to authorize the procurement of such appraisal services and to allocate appropriate funding for this purpose. NOW THEREFORE BE IT

RESOLVED, by the Newport City Council, that the City Administration is hereby authorized and directed to solicit proposals and engage a qualified appraisal vendor to perform a land appraisal of said designated North End parcels; and BE IT FURTHER

RESOLVED, that the total cost of such appraisal services shall not exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000).
