NO. 2025-43
AN ORDINANCE IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE FIVE OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, REVISION OF 1994, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED, "BUSINESS LICENSES AND REGULATIONS."
BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Newport:
SECTION 1. Chapter 5.64 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Newport, RI, Revision of 1994, as amended, entitled, "Public Conveyances," is hereby further amended be
5.64.080. Smoking on buses prohibited—Signs required.
DELETE PARAGRAPH A IN ITS ENTIRETY
A. No person shall smoke or have in his possession any lighted cigar, cigarette or pipe at any time on any bus within the city.
ADD IN LIEU THEREOF THE FOLLOWING:
A. No person shall smoke or have in his possession any lighted cigar, cigarette, weed or plant product or pipe, including vaping apparatus at any time on any bus within the city.
B. Each person operating a bus or jitney in the city shall post in a conspicuous place in such bus or jitney "no smoking" signs.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and any ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
