RESOLUTION

PROCLAIMING MARCH 3, 2025

EVAN SMITH DAY

IN THE TOWN

WHEREAS: The Town Council of the Town of Middletown has been apprised that Evan Smith has served over 35 years with Discover Newport, and

WHEREAS: Prior to being appointed to the Chief Executive Officer post where he has represented the agency for the last 20 years, Mr. Smith's career of service to Discover Newport began as Vice President of Marketing for 15 years, and

WHEREAS: During his tenure, Evan has worked tirelessly to promote the Tourism/Hospitality industry of not only Middletown, but also the eight (8) other participating communities Newport, Jamestown, Portsmouth, Little Compton, Tiverton, Bristol, Warren and Barrington, and.

WHEREAS: It is fitting, indeed, that this Town Council joins in the well-deserved tribute to Evan Smith in recognition of his dedication, energy and talent he demonstrates for the Cities and Towns, and

WHEREAS: Chief Executive Officer Evan Smith of Discover Newport has decided to retire from his post on February 28, 2025.

THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED: The Town Council of the Town of Middletown, speaking on behalf of all its citizens, commends and congratulates Evan Smith on his time of service with Discover Newport and wishes him many more happy and healthy years ahead.

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER:

RESOLVED: That the Town of Middletown Proclaims March 3, 2025 as EVAN SMITH DAY in the Town.
